What is kinesiology?
A natural health service for all.
Kinesiology is a holistic approach to healthcare. It’s one of the fastest growing therapies in the UK and is already used by many chiropractors, osteopaths and physiotherapists around the world.
Suitable for people of all ages it’s a gentle yet dynamic natural therapy. It combines the wisdom and principles of acupuncturists, chiropractors, cognitive therapists and nutritionists.
Based on extensive tried and tested research a one-to-one session uses muscle testing to identify imbalances. Looking at the physical, chemical, emotional and energetic aspects of your body and finding areas that need support. Helping improve your health and leaving you feeling more relaxed and energised.
The body’s natural response is to heal itself. Kinesiology promotes this process by releasing blockages, bringing both body and mind back into a state of balance.

“I was struggling with a shoulder injury that would stop me from being able to do certain activities like surfing, and also keeping me awake at night due to the pain. I had tried physio, been to my GP and taken a lot of pain killers.
I went to Vikki’s clinic where she did a full assessment and made me a treatment plan. This included some massage type treatment, talking therapy and recommended some vitamins that her tests showed I needed.
Since this, I have not experienced shoulder pain and I have been able to go surfing 6 times in 8 weeks, previously I would have only been able to go once in this time due to pain.
It’s made a difference to my shoulder pain and subsequently my own wellbeing”

How does the muscle test work?
Muscle testing is a non-intrusive method of assessing how the various systems of the body are functioning.
The kinesiologist looks for changes in the strength of specific muscles. When we test these muscles, we are tapping into the body’s biochemistry and a network of communication channels within. Gently pressing on a muscle, fires up receptors from the nervous system. These release chemicals in the brain, feeding back to that muscle. And telling if there are any malfunctions that need to be corrected.
The Origins of Kinesiology
In the 1920’s R W Lovett, an Orthopedic Surgeon, developed a system for testing and grading the strength of muscles. His work was progressed by Henry and Florence Kendall in 1949 and they produced a book entitled “Muscle Testing and Function”.
Kinesiology, as we use it today, was pioneered in 1964 in the USA. Chiropractor George Goodheart gathered information by studying muscle response.
He became famous for being able to solve health problems that no one else could. He taught the techniques of Applied Kinesiology to Chiropractors, Osteopaths, medical Doctors and Dentists.
Brian Butler brought kinesiology over to the UK in 1976. Developing what he called Systematic Kinesiology.
In 1988 he founded the Association of Systematic Kinesiology (ASK), which later became the Kinesiology Association (KA). He also founded The Academy of Systmatic Kinesiology to teach and accredit practitioners.
